Our Meetings

Eglise Chretienne - louange

Our services and meetings
The aim of these, first and foremost, is to honour the Lord Jesus.  We do this through times of praise, worship, prayer, taking communion, and the preaching of the Word of God. As some may not be used to such services, we would like to put forward a few Bible references on the subject:

The Word of God
Our meetings are centred around the preaching of the Word of God. The Word of God is the source of all truth, helping us to know God, His heart and plan for man, and to grow in the faith. (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 1:18)

Praise and worship
During our services, we worship and glorify the Lord with prayer and singing. “Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!  Shout to God with the voice of triumph!” (Psalm 47:1) “I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands” (1 Timothy 2:8). We worship in French, English and Creole, but we also sing and pray in tongues, a language given by God for us to praise Him and pray with. (1 Corinthians 14:14-15)

Spiritual gifts
During our services, the gifts of the Spirit are often manifested: the gift of prophecy, words of knowledge, speaking in tongues with interpretation etc. The Spirit of God uses these gifts to encourage, edify, warn and comfort His people. (1 Corinthians 14:1-4)

The laying on of hands
In accordance with the example of Jesus Christ and His teaching, we pray for some specific needs with the laying on of hands. “They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:18; Acts 6 :6 ; Acts 19:6)

Prayer
Prayer is a powerful instrument in a Christian’s everyday life. During our meetings, at times each person prays on their own, and at others, we pray together as a congregation. “They raised their voice to God with one accord.” (Acts 4:24)

Holy Communion
By taking the Lord’s Supper, we remember His death and, at the same time, proclaim His return.  Jesus said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me… This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” (1 Corinthians 11: 23-29; Acts 2:42)

The offering
We bring our offerings to the Lord voluntarily out of gratitude to the Lord and in absolute freedom.  No one is under any obligation to make offerings, and Eglise Chrétienne does not require or insist on any percentage of any person’s income. Each person gives according to what the Lord puts on his heart. (2 Corinthians 9: 7)
